Summary: How to use Ask Nisa to plan, draft, get things done, and think through your coaching.
📋 What it is
Ask Nisa is a real-time chat partner that knows your teachers, your Growth Records, and your organization's curriculum. Use it to plan a session, draft a message, or work through a challenge with a specific teacher — and to take action without leaving the conversation.
🪄 How to use it
- Open Ask Nisa — the box on your home screen, or the chat icon in the top bar. On a phone, use the top-bar icon; the home-screen box is desktop only. Ask Nisa is also available on a teacher's profile.
- Type your question, or talk to Nisa — tap the mic and your speech is transcribed straight into the message box, ready for you to check and send.
- Reference a specific teacher by name — Nisa pulls in their goals, recent updates, and context.
- Attach a photo (a picture of your notebook or handwritten observation notes) or a document — PDF, Word, CSV or plain text. Up to 6 files at a time.
- To bring in a Google Drive file, paste the link and Nisa reads it — or just ask by name: "do you have my observation notes for Ms. Johnson?"

⚠️
Documents are scanned for student and staff personal information before they send. If something is flagged, you'll be asked to redact it or confirm before the message goes through — the send button waits until you do.

✅ Get things done in chat
You can take real actions right from the conversation, not just ask questions:
- Set up a coaching goal and its action steps for a teacher — and update it or log progress on it later.
- Log an update — tell Nisa about a 1:1, a classroom visit, or a general check-in and it records it on the teacher's Growth Record.
- Fix or remove an update — "change the summary on my last touchpoint with Sarah," "delete that classroom visit from last week."
- Add teachers to your roster — ask Nisa to add a teacher, or several in a row.
- Create documents — ask Nisa to draft a coaching plan, a summary, or a resource to share, and download it as a Word file.
